ASHES 5TH TEST-day 1....

the day 1 was equally poised on both sides though the english had a good 2nd wicket partnership between strauss and bell after the fall of cook. they added 102 runs where strauss made 55 with 11 4's.. then bell who struggled for jhonson's bouncers at the start found composure and played good for his 72. where he got rid of his ugly form and the threat from bouncers unless he edged a delivery form siddle to his stumps.. after tea it was strauss who was out by siddle by a innocuous delivery. where the early morning saw some smiles in aussies faces as cook never made any harm who edged to ponting in 2nd slip of siddle. then after strauss it was a laboured innings from collingwood for 24. then it brought the debutant Ian Jonathan Leonard Trott a south african born like strauss. he showed great skill with mostly text book shots every time to prove his call for the last test. he was joined with prior after bell where jhonson came around the wicket to get rid of prior with a brilliant slow ball. where he spooned it to watto. then the well set trott saw his end from a sharp work from katich.a magnificent work from Katich! which was Truly incredible stuff at short leg! Trott used his feet and clips to leg, Katich at short leg makes a sharp save and quickly gets a full-blooded throw at the stumps, Trott is still in the follow through and has to turn quickly, the direct hit has him well short. then the expected friddie came in with a big haul from croud to see an entertaining innings. but he failed to do it. the last session of aussies were good and gave them an edge after they took over swann in the last delivery. the 2nd day is looked forward by england to make a decent 350 where broard is on 26 has made a indivation with his audacious strokes and oz's ll try to wind up pretty early..
